Detergent Regulations

Detergent Regulations (EC) no. 648/2004

The regulation harmonises the following rules for placing detergents and surfactants for detergents on the internal market:

  • test methods to be used to assess the biodegradability of surfactants in detergents
  • restrictions or bans on surfactants on grounds of biodegradability
  • additional labelling on the packaging of detergents, including fragrance allergens
  • information that manufacturers must hold at the disposal of the member states

Unico have obtained written confirmation, either on Material Safety Data Sheets or on a specific document, that the surfactants used comply with the Detergent Regulation NO. 64/2004 (Article 4 (i)) " criteria for ultimate biodegradability is 80% primary biodegradability"
