Unify: Working in Partnership with industry bodies to set the highest standards of excellence
Unico takes environmental issues very seriously. The company strives to ensure the highest standards are developed and maintained in all approaches to energy and environmental management. All activities are undertaken at the lowest possible energy consumption and with the lowest possible environmental impact, whilst upholding a healthy, comfortable and safe working environment for all staff.
In October 2011 Unico, as part of the larger Alexander Ross Holdings Group was awarded the ISO14001 Environmental Management Certification. This internationally recognised standard highlights to all our stakeholders and partners that we comply with all applicable laws and regulations as well as acknowledging that we have an effective environmental management system in place.
We are continuing to reduce our carbon footprint year on year as recognised by our Carbon Trust Standard Certification. Based on a rigorous, independent assessment it certifies that we have measured, managed and reduced carbon emissions across our operations and affirms that we are committed to reducing them year on year.
The group first secured the Carbon Trust Standard in 2010, again in 2012, 2014 and 2017 and we have just had the certification renewed again (May 2018) for another two years.
Unico recognises the importance of its supply chain and suppliers' environmental commitments in its own carbon footprint. The company regularly asks suppliers to provide up-to-date environmental policies, accreditations, and detailed information on provision of recycled materials, products and packaging. As an additional safeguard Unico representatives will visit major suppliers' premises to investigate their environmental practices and procedures.
Despite the above successes environmental performance is continually reviewed. In doing so the company ensures that past achievements are built upon and all relevant legislation, regulations and standards are not only met but, where possible, exceeded.
